Mt St Helens breakfast dish

Updated: Mar 14, 2021

I would like to introduce to you one of my favorite breakfast dishes!

It's called the Mt. St. Helens

You can find it at the Midpoint Food & Drink just behind the Plaid Pantry on 52nd & Powell

3524 SE 52nd Ave, Portland, OR 97206

What makes this dish so special you ask? It's the Midpoint's very own Red Country Gravy, but the dish is also constructed perfectly. It starts with properly cooked golden brown breakfast potatoes and then they add some cheddar cheese that grills into a wonderfully crispy compliment to the dish.

They then add in some yummy bacon and smother it with their delicious red country gravy. It's topped off with two eggs any way you like them, fresh raw chives and your choice of toast to scoop it all up with. Unless, of course it's your style to throw their delicious homemade jam on it and enjoy the toast separately.

Add on a bottomless cup of coffee, some vintage "Portland" decor, fast and friendly service and you find yourself with the perfect way to start your day. I'm not the kind of person to order the same meal twice, but this dish is so good that I can't recall trying anything else on their menu other that the deep fried french toast (cause well I was curious)... and yes. It is amazing too).

Midpoint also has diet friendly (gluten free, vegetarian, vegan) options. It has your favorite classic brunch cocktails as well as a few of their own. It's a homey diner-like dimly lit local's cafe and in my opinion it's one of Portland's best hidden gems.

Make sure to stop by and give the Mt. St. Helens a try!
